Quality Control Team Leader - Based Poole
IMMEDIATE START!
Basic salary £43,000 up to £46,000 depending on experience plus 33 days holidays, option to buy 5 extra days, 1pm finish Friday, matched contributory pension, additional benefits, and career development.
Due to continued growth, my client is looking for a Quality Control Team Leader to lead the Quality Control Inspection department and can demonstrate experience in a team leadership role within a manufacturing organisation.
Quality Control Team Leader, you will work closely with operations to ensure parts and products are inspected effectively, customer delivery needs are supported, and required quality standards are maintained.
Quality Control Team Leader, this role includes helping to implement and maintain in-process quality control methods, such as Process Capability studies, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC). You will also support continuous improvement across QC, helping to keep inspection processes lean, effective, and aligned with company quality standards.
Candidate Skills
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Substantial mechanical inspection experience, or completion of a relevant apprenticeship.
Proven experience using hand tools and CMM measurement techniques.
Effective time management and delivery of agreed outputs.
Capability to train and support QC inspectors.
Ability to develop programmes for CMM machines.
Clear, confident communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to work independently and contribute effectively within a multifunctional team.
Strong problem-solving ability, with creative thinking and a willingness to challenge assumptions.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge and experience of ISO 9001 or AS9100, MSA, Process Capability, and SPC.
* Experience using structured problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, DMAIC, Ishikawa, and 5 Whys.
* Mechanical engineering background, including experience with measuring techniques.
Duties
* Oversee the day-to-day management of the QC team.
* Support and carry out daily inspections and other inspection activities as required.
* Carry out Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) studies.
* Escalate resourcing concerns to the Lead Process Quality Engineer and propose suitable solutions in line with internal processes.
* Support recruitment activity by applying best practice and following company policies.
* Identify opportunities to optimise QC processes, propose practical improvements, and drive implementation to improve product quality.
* Coordinate team workloads by setting clear targets, deadlines, and objectives, and ensuring they are met.
* Ensure team members are competent in their roles by monitoring performance, identifying training needs, and supporting appropriate development.
* Maintain sufficient training coverage to support a flexible workforce that can cover absence and changing business needs.
* Conduct appraisals and performance reviews, identifying and addressing development needs.
* Authorise holidays and absences in line with company policy while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
* Manage the full induction of new starters before they begin work and complete probationary reviews in line with company policy.
* Handle employee relations matters in line with company policy.
* Manage staff absence by completing return-to-work interviews within 24 hours and escalating concerns in line with policy.
* Maintain NDE staff qualifications in line with QA requirements, including PCN Level 2 General.
* Support improvement projects and new product introductions from a QC perspective.
* Manage COSHH requirements and associated risk assessments.
* Develop inspection measurement skills as required and provide support where needed.
* Identify and justify requirements for additional inspection equipment when needed
