JOB: Quality Control Manager

SALARY: up to £45,400.00 plus benefits

LOCATION: Cockermouth, Cumbria (CA13)

STATUS: Permanent (35 hours per week)

My client is looking to appoint a full time, permanent Quality Control Manager for their operation based in Cockermouth.

The working hours are:

Monday – Thursday 08:45 – 17:00

Friday 08:45 – 12:45/15:30 (alternate weeks)

As a Quality Control Manager in the manufacturing sector, you will lead the inspection team and oversee the implementation of quality control processes and standards to ensure the production of high-quality components and systems. Reporting to the site Quality Manager you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations and maintaining the integrity and safety of all products.

Pivotal in this role is the rollout of the new Quality System functionality. Key activities include testing functionality, system design, data setup, training, go-live preparation and post go-live on site support.

You will support the Global Process Owner and Lead Subject Matter Expert by attending stream lead meetings as applicable and providing direction with the site project team.

A manager with a good knowledge of CHANGE MANAGEMENT would be beneficial.

If you are currently a Production Manager, but wish to move into a Quality Control role, this would also be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Control Strategy

* Develop and lead a comprehensive quality control strategy aligned with Standards, Systems, processes and regulations.

* Establish clear quality objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve overall product quality.

Process Improvement

* Identify areas for process improvement within the manufacturing Quality Controls system in line with operational excellence business strategy.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives and optimize Quality Control processes.

* The activities include testing functionality, system design, data setup, training, go-live preparation and post go-live on-site support.

* Supporting the Global Process Owner and Lead Subject matter expert by attending stream lead meetings as applicable and providing direction to site SME’s.

Compliance and Regulations

* Ensure compliance in line with site Quality standards, specifications and regulations.

* Conduct regular audits and assessments to verify adherence to quality management systems and initiate corrective actions as necessary.

* Support Quality Department with on calibration site wide compliance.

Team Leadership and Development

* Lead and manage a team of quality control professionals, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.

* Foster a culture of quality consciousness and accountability within the team, promoting a proactive approach to quality control.

* Manage performance of the team through use of visual controls and leader standard work.

* Complete development reviews for direct reports.

Customer Focus

Work closely with other streams supporting customer audits and site visits to understand their quality expectations and deliver their requirements.

Facilitate effective resolution of quality-related issues e.g. Customer Concerns/Non-conformances.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate and organized quality documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and other relevant records.

Generate regular quality performance reports for management review, highlighting areas of achievement and improvement.

Alignment of internal standards and SOP’s.

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS

ESSENTIAL

Extensive knowledge in quality control, inspection standards & activities.

Self-motivated with an ability to motivate others.

Communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Managing of people, performance and processes.

Lean & Six Sigma, Green belt or higher.

Relevant Quality or Manufacturing management qualifications.

Approved auditor to ISO9001.

PREFERRED

Lead Auditor to ISO9001/AS9100.

Project experience. Delivery of complex cross-functional projects to time and budget.

Conflict management experience

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

Experience/understanding of attribute & variable inspection.

Experience of leading change management.

Proven track record in delivering both personal & departmental objectives.

Proven track record of achieving KPI targets.

PREFERRED

Customer focused – internal and external.

Knowledge of Lean/6 sigma manufacturing principles.
