Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset, England (On-Site, with occasional travel to manufacturing site in Broughton)

About the Opportunity:

This role is based on-site at the landmark Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project in Somerset, with periodic visits to the client's off-site manufacturing facility in Broughton.

Reporting to the Senior Project Quality Manager, the Quality Control Inspector will oversee the quality, structural integrity, and safety of welding, fabrication, installation, and dimensional activities. You will play a crucial role in inspecting welds, managing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), conducting goods inwards checks, and identifying Counterfeit, Fraudulent, and Suspect Items (CFSI) to ensure total nuclear safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Welding Inspection & Quality Assurance

Welding & Dimensional Inspections: Inspect and evaluate weld strength, quality, joint setup, and dimensional accuracy across fabrication, assembly, and installation stages.

Equipment & Process Verification: Ensure correct welding equipment, parameters, and consumables are used in accordance with approved welding procedure specifications (WPS).

ITP Management: Actively manage and control Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) through every stage of manufacture, treatment, and site delivery.

Goods Inwards & CFSI Awareness: Inspect incoming raw materials and components to ensure compliance with standards, maintaining strict vigilance against Counterfeit, Fraudulent, and Suspect Items (CFSI).

Supply Chain & Sub-Contractor Inspections

Sub-Contractor Surveillance: Conduct site visits and random quality inspections at sub-contractor facilities and treatment works to verify compliance with purchase orders and project specifications.

Inspection Reporting: Produce, record, and maintain clear visit reports, factory acceptance reports, and end-of-manufacture/install documentation.

Nuclear Safety & Continuous Improvement

Workmanship Standards: Drive high workmanship standards across site production teams, in-house workshops, and external suppliers.

Safety & Culture: Maintain a clean and safe workspace, report safety and quality concerns promptly, and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications & Technical Certifications

CSWIP 3.1: Minimum requirement (Certified Welding Inspector).

PCN Level 2 Certifications: Must hold active PCN Level 2 in Penetrant Testing (PT) and Radiographic Interpretation (RI).

Engineering Drawings: Proven ability to read and interpret isometric drawings (ISOs) and complex engineering schematics.

Welding Expertise: Advanced working knowledge of modern welding procedures, processes, and joint geometries.

IT Proficiency: Strong digital skills using Microsoft Office tools to create formal inspection reports, presentations, and completion packages, with the aptitude to learn bespoke project software.

Desirable Qualifications

PCN Level 2 Certifications: PCN Level 2 in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is highly advantageous.

Requirements & Experience

Quality & NDT Background: Hands-on experience performing physical welding inspections, NDT surveillance, and dimensional checks in a high-integrity industrial environment.

Detail-Oriented: Exceptional precision and thoroughness when assessing weld quality and verifying physical materials against mill certificates.

Communication & Relationships: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across production teams, client representatives, and sub-contractors
