About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Quality Control professional to support the Production Manager across high-care and low-care food production activities.

You’ll help maintain a strong food safety and quality culture, ensuring products meet customer requirements and regulatory standards. A key part of the role is keeping the site BRC Grade AA audit-ready through effective quality systems, HACCP controls, internal auditing, documentation and training.

Key responsibilities

*

Monitor production processes and finished products against HACCP controls, food safety requirements and customer standards.

*

Generate, maintain and review factory quality and food safety documentation.

*

Conduct internal audits and check compliance with factory procedures and BRC requirements.

*

Ensure production staff complete quality records accurately and consistently.

*

Carry out product quality assessments and taste panels, recording findings and highlighting deviations.

*

Support investigations into non-conformances, quality issues and customer complaints.

*

Help implement and monitor corrective and preventative actions.

*

Support employee training in food safety, quality and factory procedures.

*

Work with production and other departments to improve systems and maintain audit readiness.

*

Assist on the production line when required, once quality checks and documentation are complete.

Skills and experience

*

Previous experience in a QC, QA or Technical role within food manufacturing.

*

Practical understanding of HACCP, food safety and quality management systems.

*

Knowledge of BRC standards and audit-readiness requirements.

*

Strong attention to detail, organisation and record-keeping skills.

*

Good communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.

*

Confidence working with production teams across high-care and low-care environments.

Experience using ERP systems, conducting internal audits, completing taste panels or supporting food safety training would be an advantage. Good general computer literacy is also desirable.

Working hours and shifts

The role involves 35+ hours per week across 5 days, alternating between AM and PM shifts. Current shift times are 6:00am–2:00pm and 2:00pm–10:00pm.

A third/night shift is expected to be introduced, with timings to be confirmed. Applicable night shifts will attract a 20% shift premium. Flexibility will be required to meet production needs.

Salary and benefits

The salary is £28,500–£30,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include a company pension, free on-site parking and a 20% premium for applicable night shifts.
