The role of the MEH Alliance Quality Apprentice is to develop competency in effective Quality Practices in their responsible area to ensure we fulfil contractual and regulatory requirements.
As a Quality Apprentice you will have the opportunity to work closely and pro-actively within the Quality teams across the MEH Alliance at HPC Hinkley Point C.

Accountabilities:

The MEH Alliance programme is accountable for full lifecycle delivery of the main MEH installation works at Hinkley Point C (HPC). The MEH programme scope includes the on-site installation of all pipes, electrical kits, and HVAC systems in the whole power plant, with the notable exception of the main coolant system, the main control room, the turbine hall and the main power evacuation.

Key Deliverables:
You will:
• Work across different areas in our Quality team to get a clear understanding of the Quality Assurance Role.
• This includes placements within Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Document Control and Welding Engineering.
• Responsible for deployment of Quality Policies, Processes and Procedures.
• Plan and conduct audits/assurance in line with the MEH Alliance’s audit plan/programme.
• Identify, investigate and contain non-conformances and advise on actions to prevent recurrence.
• Inspect/verify/validate a Product or Service against stated product requirements/acceptance criteria/service levels.
• Develop quality control/assurance plans for the product, service or project they are responsible for.
• Advise on and/or use tools and techniques to improve quality performance, such as reducing waste, improving right first-time delivery, reducing non-compliance.
• Gather and analyse routine quality performance data and produce relevant reports.
• Guide and support others inside the Quality Function or in other functions to improve quality competence and quality performance.
• Support the development of new/changed products or services, through identifying/quantifying quality risks and contribute to the analysis and mitigation/prevention of these risks.
• Build positive relationships with the MEH Alliance team and client.
You will also:
• Train at one of the top performing colleges or training providers in the country

• Develop great working relationships with some of the industry’s most talented QAs
• Have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your confidence and use your initiative
You will attend college to complete the Level 4 Quality Practitioner apprenticeship standard and regularly attend in house training and development as part of the programme.
This standard aligns with the following professional recognition: Chartered Quality Institute for Practitioner

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience:
• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) grade C/4 or above in English, Maths, Science and 2 other subjects.
• Any of the following is desirable; an A Levels at grade C or above or a T Level, a BTEC Extended Diploma, Level 3 Diploma, or Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering.
• Competency in using Microsoft packages such as Teams, Outlook, Excel and Word with an aptitude to work with other software.

• An ability to work accurately and to high levels of detail
• Good at building relationships
• Has a flexible, approachable style of working with others to achieve successful outcomes
• High levels of motivation and the ability to use own initiative
