A leading premium automotive business and leading to move towards electric autonomous vehicles.

WHAT TO EXPECT

To lead the quality team within the Whitley Toolroom department, having responsibility for coordination of workflow and inspection reporting of prototype components.The objective is to manage & co-ordinate the inspection of 100% of components that are manufactured in the department.

Process improvement investigation and implementation leading to quality improvements throughout department.

Manage end of manufacture processes such as controlling finishing processes, completed work, goods outwards, delivery & all external processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

•    Ensure quality check procedures are followed at every stage of production.
•    Documenting any quality issues, recording them and documenting resolutions
•    Ensuring inspection staff are trained to suitable levels.
•    Program and operate inspection software & equipment.
•    Understand engineering drawings, dimensions, annotations & tolerancing to produce reports.
•    Willing to support others and capable of working on own to provide solutions for inspection activities.
•    Control departmental tooling calibration processes.
•    Drive process improvement across department aiming to improve overall quality and efficiency.
•    Control and manage the end of manufacture processes, including being accountable for arrangement of external processes, work completion and full quality checks before customers are notified of completion.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED 

•    Experience of leading prototype inspection teams
•    Understanding of ISO standards, specifically ISO9000 & ISO9001
•    In depth understanding and experience in using GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
•    Understanding of measurement principles.
•    Good PC & communication skills
•    Experience in the use of Faro arm or other Co-ordinate Measurement Machines
•    Use of manual inspection equipment
•    Experience of leading prototype inspection teams
•    Experience in collaborating with engineering teams.
•    Experience and understanding of prototype manufacturing processes & techniques.
•    Understanding of quality management systems.
