Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire
Employer: Tradewind Recruitment
Contract: Full-time, long-term opportunity

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate, resilient and dedicated Qualified SEMH Teacher to join a specialist secondary school in the St Neots area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who is committed to making a difference in the lives of young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

You will be working with secondary-aged pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning, emotional regulation and engagement with mainstream education. You will play a key role in delivering engaging lessons, creating a positive classroom environment and helping students develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

The Role

As a Qualified SEMH Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs.

Teach and support pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs.

Create a structured, safe and supportive learning environment.

Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to support students.

Apply trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to teaching.

Adapt lessons and resources to engage pupils with different abilities and learning needs.

Monitor, assess and record student progress, providing constructive feedback.

Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, resilience and independence.

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and other professionals to provide consistent support.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

Has experience teaching secondary-aged pupils.

Has previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or additional needs.

Is confident managing challenging classroom situations using positive behaviour strategies.

Understands trauma-informed practice and the importance of building trusting relationships.

Can adapt their teaching style to engage pupils who may have struggled within mainstream education.

Is patient, resilient, approachable and passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.

Experience within a secondary SEMH school, alternative provision or specialist education setting would be particularly beneficial. Applications from ECTs with relevant experience and a genuine interest in SEMH education are also welcome.

Why Work with Tradewind Recruitment?

Competitive daily rates, dependent on experience.

Access to free professional development and CPD opportunities.

Access to the National College following your first day of work.

A dedicated consultant providing ongoing support throughout your placement.

Opportunities to gain experience within specialist education settings.

Potential for longer-term and permanent opportunities.
