Position Description: Quality Assurance Engineer- Edinburgh onsite

Overview

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, functionality, and user experience of all our Edinburgh based client's products with a focus on the software suite and associated integrations and applications in order to achieve the best outcome for customers. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and designers, to deliver a high-quality product.

Responsibilities:

Test Planning and Execution:
Understand customer use cases, particularly in VR (Virtual Reality) and XR (Extended Reality), and leverage this knowledge to develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
Execute functional, usability, performance, and compatibility testing.
Identify defects, track issues, and work with development teams to resolve them.
Build VR Specific Expertise:
Understand the unique challenges of VR environments (latency, tracking, haptics) and ensure that software and hardware products perform optimally in these environments.
Understand the different VR hardware and software technologies and open standards such as OpenXR.
Validate hand tracking accuracy, gesture recognition and other associate technological challenges.
Hardware and Software Integration:
Test the seamless integration of our hardware with VR headsets, controllers, and other peripherals.
Verify compatibility across different platforms.
Organise and perform data gathering.
Regression Testing and Automation:
Implement automated test scripts to streamline regression testing.
Ensure automated testing is integrated into the CI/CD pipelines and executed on a regular basis.
Maintain test environments and test data.
Documentation and Reporting:
Document test coverage, test results, defects, and improvements.
Collaborate with technical writers to create user manuals and troubleshooting guides.Qualification, Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
A passion for gaming, especially in VR/XR with a good understanding of relevant technologies and tools.
Proven experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer in the gaming industry or related field.
Familiarity with VR hardware, tracking systems, and haptic feedback.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Experience with test automation tools is a plus.
Able to operate in a changing environment, with ability to problem solve as a team to progressPlease send in a CV to discuss
