Purchasing Manager Staffordshire, UK

£65,000 – 75,000 + bonus + car allowance + benefits

This is a strategic purchasing role that requires an experienced procurement professional that can work effectively within a fast paced, high-pressure environment.

You will be part of an international procurement and supply chain team within a global engineering and manufacturing business. Location: Onsite, Uttoxeter area, Staffordshire.

As purchasing manager you will have a small team of buyers and will hold financial and strategic responsibility for procurement and supply chain activities in support of your commodities and services for the group. It is a strategic role that requires experience of identifying, creating and leading strategic procurement and supply chain projects. You must have strong negotiation skills, excellent commercial acumen, and understanding of macroeconomic influences on international markets.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in procurement gained within a high pressure, fast paced company handling materials procurement internationally. Understanding of manufacturing operations could be beneficial.

Strong negotiation skills are essential, as you will be negotiating complex contracts and fostering relationships with key suppliers. A keen sense of commercial acumen is imperative, enabling you to make informed decisions that will positively impact the business.

Required: Purchasing Manager

* Previous experience as a strategic purchasing manager working within a fast-paced international organisation.

* Professional procurement / supply chain qualifications and accreditations.

* Demonstrable relevant achievements from previous strategic procurement activities.

* Strong communication skills, resilient, well organised and able to work effectively, autonomously, and confidently within a multiskilled team environment.

* Understanding of engineering / manufacturing operations (e.g. automotive) would be useful but other sectors (e.g. retail, FMCG, etc) would be considered – process knowledge is valued more than direct materials knowledge.

* Evidence of having identified, planned, developed and executed strategic procurement projects with clear and defined outcomes and achievements.

* Understanding of global markets and macroeconomic influences on strategic procurement activities.

* Examples of creativity, innovation and leadership would be expected.

This strategic purchasing manager position is based onsite and is commutable from Rocester, Stoke on Trent, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Stafford, and Burton. Hybrid / remote working is not on offer. However, the company is offering a salary of £65,000 – 75,000 + bonus + car allowance and other benefits.
