Purchasing Assistant

Job Location: Poole, Dorset

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: Monday – Friday 8.00am - 4.45pm with a 12.30pm finish on a Friday

We have a new opening for a specialist engineering company for a Purchasing Assistant to join their team based in Poole on a permanent basis.

Within this role you will be you will be supporting the Purchasing Manager to manage the supplier orders and relationships, and ensuring they always have the product required to keep the manufacturing process moving.

Key duties will include;

* Building and maintaining good relationships with new and existing suppliers and liaising with them on a day-to-day basis.

* Providing support to Purchasing Manager

* Raise Purchase Orders using the Company’s procurement system.

* Supporting with ad-hoc administration that is needed in Purchasing.

* Responding to routine enquiries in person, by telephone, email, or correspondence.

* Escalating complex or detailed queries to appropriate colleague as required.

* Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers.

* Supporting the Purchasing Manager in conducting research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.

* Checking the accuracy of invoices received.

* Highlighting possible cost savings and efficiencies to ensure accurate, prompt, and timely delivery to customers.

The successful applicant will possess;

* Proven experience in a Purchasing / Buying role

* Experience in the manufacturing / engineering environment

* CIPS is advantageous

* PC literate with experience of using Excel, word and CRM / ERP systems
