Hays are working with a well-established business based in Shrewsbury that is looking to recruit a Purchase Ledger Clerk to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional seeking a role offering a three-day working week (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) within a supportive and growing organisation.
Your new role
As a Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function and ensuring the smooth processing of supplier invoices.

Processing high volumes of purchase invoices
Matching, batching and coding invoices against purchase orders
Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies
Managing supplier queries in a timely and professional manner
Assisting with month-end finance activities
Supporting audit preparation and maintaining accurate financial records
Providing administrative support to the wider finance team
Assisting with other finance tasks, including sales ledger and credit control duties where required

What you'll need to succeed

Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Good organisational and time management skills
Experience using Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
A proactive and flexible approach to work
The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
