Psychology Teacher - Maternity Cover - Abingdon
A Secondary School in Abingdon is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Psychology Teacher to join their Social Sciences team on a maternity cover contract from October 2026 until May 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Psychology Teacher, or an ambitious ECT, to join a welcoming secondary school and make a positive contribution to the learning and progress of students across Key Stages 4 and 5.
About the role
As a Psychology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students to develop a genuine interest in human behaviour. You will encourage students to think critically about psychological theories and research, apply their understanding to real-life situations and develop their ability to analyse and evaluate evidence.
You will:
Plan and deliver high-quality Psychology lessons across KS4 and/or KS5.
Inspire students to develop a strong understanding of human behaviour and psychological theory.
Develop students' ability to analyse, evaluate and critically consider psychological research.
Support students to make links between psychological concepts and real-world examples.
Monitor student progress and provide effective feedback to support achievement.
Contribute positively to the Social Sciences team and wider school community.
Maintain high expectations of behaviour, effort and academic achievement.
About you
We are looking for a Psychology Teacher who is passionate about their subject and committed to helping young people achieve their potential.
You will ideally have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching experience.
Experience teaching Psychology within a secondary school or sixth-form setting.
A strong knowledge of the Psychology curriculum and assessment requirements.
ECTs with relevant Psychology teaching experience are welcome to apply.
