Description:

Step into a hands-on, high-impact role as a Prototype Machinist where precision, problem-solving, and craftsmanship come together. This Prototype Machinist position puts you at the heart of prototype development, turning detailed engineering drawings into real-world components with speed, accuracy, and pride. If you enjoy producing one-off, low-volume parts and helping refine designs for manufacturability, the next Prototype Machinist opportunity could be a perfect fit.

What You Will Do:

- Operate manual machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, and a range of hand tools, to produce prototype components from raw materials.

- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure dimensions and tolerances are correctly understood before machining begins.

- Perform quality inspections on finished parts using precision measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.

- Troubleshoot machining challenges in real time, adjusting processes to optimise accuracy and maintain strict project timelines.

- Support prototype engineers and design teams by clarifying requirements and recommending practical improvements to strengthen manufacturability.

- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment in line with 5S principles, while keeping clear records of machining operations, materials, and quality control data.

What You Will Bring:

- At least 6 years of hands-on experience in general or manual machining within a workshop environment, with confidence using lathes, mills, and drills.

- Strong ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications, translating technical detail into accurate machining decisions.

- Demonstrable skill with standard measuring tools, with a proven commitment to meeting tight tolerances.

- Practical experience operating in prototype or low-volume environments, where adaptability and quality matter every day.

- A relevant engineering background, such as BTEC or equivalent, and an apprenticeship or comparable experience is highly desirable.

This role supports the company's goal of building reliable, premium prototype components for next-generation motorcycle development. As a Prototype Machinist, you help bridge theoretical design and physical realisation, ensuring every part meets the high standards expected across the engineering and manufacturing industry.

Location:

The Prototype Machinist role is based at the company's workshop location in Bruntingthorpe, own transport is essential as this is a rural location.

Full RTW for UK is required.
