PROPERTY SOLICITOR

£35 - £50 per hour negotiable

Location: Mid sussex based RH16

Hybrid working – minimum 1 day per week in the office

We are seeking an experienced Property Solicitor to provide high-quality legal advice, representation and support, advising Members and colleagues on a wide range of property and local government matters.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist legal advice, representation and assistance to Members and Council officers.
Manage an ongoing legal caseload, prioritising matters effectively and meeting deadlines.
Advise on a broad range of property matters, including acquisitions, disposals, licences and Landlord and Tenant matters.
Advise on the structuring of property deals.
Negotiate and complete property transactions on behalf of the Client.
Assist with matters relating to Assets of Community Value, best value disposals and Subsidy Control.
Represent the Client in legal proceedings and undertake advocacy where required.
Attend statutory meetings, Committees and public meetings as required.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, guidance and best practice.
Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective Legal Service and the Client’s Corporate Plan.
Essential Requirements

Fully qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive, or equivalent relevant professional qualification.
Experience working within a legal team or practice.
Strong working knowledge and experience within property law.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to scrutinise and interpret new legislation.
Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and manage a caseload within agreed deadlines.
High professional standards and commitment to continuing professional development.
Desirable Experience

Previous experience working within a local government legal team.
Knowledge of the local government statutory and constitutional framework.
Additional attendance may be required for Committees, statutory meetings and public meetings.
