Operations Manager

Purpose of the Role

To manage vessel maintenance, repair, refit and inspection projects for commercial marine clients, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. Acting as the key link between customers, operations and administration teams, the Project Manager will bring structure, planning and control to a fast-paced and reactive maintenance environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Manage vessel maintenance, repair, refit, survey and inspection projects from enquiry through to completion.
Review work packages and define project scope, schedules, resource requirements and delivery milestones.
Coordinate vessel movements, labour, materials, subcontractors and operational resources to ensure efficient project delivery.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor progress, manage risks and adapt plans to accommodate urgent repairs, operational constraints and changing priorities.
Capture and manage project variations and additional works, ensuring they are documented, approved and communicated for invoicing.
Liaise with operations, technical, administration and finance teams to ensure effective project execution and commercial control.
Maintain accurate project records and provide regular progress, resource and financial updates.
Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company HSEQ requirements and promote a strong safety culture.

Person Specification

Essential

Experience in project management, maintenance planning or operational delivery within a fast-paced environment.
Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Commercial awareness, including experience managing project costs, variations and invoicing processes.
Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions in a reactive environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and project planning tools.

Desirable

Experience within marine, maritime, engineering, manufacturing or other industrial environments.
Understanding of commercial vessel maintenance and repair activities.
Project management qualification (APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
Experience working with HSEQ systems.
Knowledge of slipway operations, vessel surveys, dry docking or marine refit projects.
