We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a highly regarded specialist construction and engineering business delivering complex projects across the data centre, defence and energy sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role on a major, high-value data centre development, working across extensive infrastructure, utilities, foundations and external works. You'll be joining a business with decades of specialist experience and a strong reputation for delivering technically challenging projects where there is no room for compromise on safety, quality or performance.

This is far more than a standard construction management role. You'll have genuine ownership of project delivery, working with a multidisciplinary team and a wide range of clients, consultants, utility providers and specialist supply chain partners.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the safe, compliant, commercially successful and timely delivery of your assigned project.

You'll lead the project team and take ownership across programme, commercial performance, quality, stakeholder management, risk and successful handover.

The project includes major enabling and infrastructure works supporting a large-scale data centre development, including:

Earthworks and cut/fill operations
Piling, foundations and reinforced concrete works
Drainage and attenuation systems
Utilities infrastructure and diversions
HV/MV power infrastructure
Data and security ducting and chambers
Roads, external works and hard landscaping
Underground utility corridors and site-wide infrastructure
Design development, technical coordination and statutory approvalsYou'll also play a key role in coordinating design teams, consultants, utility providers, subcontractors and client stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of a complex and technically demanding programme.

What you'll be responsible for

Project Leadership & Delivery

Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards
Establish strong project governance, controls and reporting
Take ownership of programme, milestones, risks and delivery performance
Ensure resources, procurement and subcontractor activities are aligned with project requirements
Identify constraints and implement effective recovery strategies where requiredCommercial Management

Take responsibility for project budgets, forecasts, cash flow and commercial performance
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
Support change control, cost management and forecasting
Work closely with the commercial team to maximise project performance and profitabilityHealth, Safety & Quality

Lead project health, safety and environmental performance
Promote a proactive culture of safe working and personal accountability
Ensure quality plans, inspections and assurance processes are effectively implemented
Drive right-first-time delivery and defect prevention
Manage non-conformances and corrective actions through to successful resolution
Ensure completed works meet contractual, technical and statutory requirementsStakeholder Management

Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, utility providers and supply chain partners
Lead effective project communication and reporting
Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle
Support the development of long-term client relationships and repeat businessPeople Leadership

Lead, develop and support project teams
Create a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance
Set clear expectations and support the development of team members
Contribute to succession planning and talent developmentWhat we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager who is comfortable taking ownership of complex construction projects and working in a demanding, technically focused environment.

You'll ideally have:

Proven experience managing construction projects from inception through to completion
Strong experience across infrastructure, civils or major construction projects
Knowledge of earthworks, foundations, drainage, utilities and external infrastructure
Experience managing commercial performance, forecasting and cost control
Strong understanding of programme, risk and change management
Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
Knowledge of Design & Build delivery
Strong client and stakeholder management skills
Good working knowledge of NEC and JCT contractsQualifications & Certifications

HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related discipline
Relevant professional membership such as CIOB, RICS or APM would be advantageous
Project Management qualification such as APM or PMP would be desirable
CSCS Black Card - minimum requirement
SMSTS
