Position: Project Manager

Location: London

Salary: £100k (Neg DOE), car/allowance, bonus (c.20%) and excellent benefits package

The Project: Develop, construct and operate a new Energy from Waste (EfW) facility.

The Role: Site based role coordinating the day-to-day management of construction and contractual matters on the project.

Minimum of 3 days per week on site.

Responsibilities: Health & Safety:

Embed a positive health and safety culture at all levels across the project. Proactively enforce health and safety control measures on site through regular auditing, promotion of positive behaviours and identification of areas for improvement.

Ensure that the EPC Contractor and its subcontractors maintain and enforce robust health and safety monitoring control measures and ensure that all incidents are fully investigated in a timely manner with rectification measures clearly identified and cascaded throughout the workforce.

Ensure that the EPC Contractor and its subcontractors comply with statutory legislative health and safety obligations.

Contract Management:

Ensure that the project is delivered in accordance with the agreed contractual specification, technical and commercial schedules and the terms of the EPC Contract. A strong demonstrable background in developing and administering contracts and extensive knowledge of both standard and bespoke forms of contract is essential.

Ensure that the project is delivered in accordance with all technical, health, safety, environmental, quality, security, legislative, statutory, financial and organisational requirements.

Administration of EPC contractual changes by both Purchaser and EPC Contractor. Demonstrable evidence of proactive administration of EPC Contractor claims, compensation events, variations, changes etc.

Coordinate responses to EPC Contractor technical queries. Manage interface with operator to ensure smooth commissioning and transition from Capital Projects to operations.

Project Controls:

Management of financial matters relating to the project including responsibility for the maintenance of the project budget through a strong focus on cost control, monthly forecasting of variances, processing of milestone payment applications and associated certification and anticipated contingency usage.

Coordination and interpretation of performance against programme. Demonstration of Earned Value Management. Forecasting and projection of programme risk and proactive implementation of mitigation measures.

Responsibility for the management of the project risk register. Work in conjunction with the Project Services team to ensure that Risk Reduction meetings are held regularly and are effective in allocating scores and identifying realistic mitigation measures. Ensure that the Project Director is kept fully appraised of emerging and unacceptable residual risks post mitigation.

Management

Manage the contractual relationship with the Owner's Engineer (OE). Ensure that the OE is performing in accordance with the agreement between the parties and satisfactorily discharging their dutes as Project Manager's Representative.

Reporting

Ensure the Project Director is fully appraised of progress against time and budget. Immediately notify Project Director and Capital Projects' Health & Safety Manager of any health and safety near misses and accidents.

Produce and maintain regular weekly and monthly reports identifying and evaluating performance against key KPIs.

Stakeholder Engagement

Coordinate interfaces on site. Ensure that commitments by the Purchaser do not impede EPC Contractor programme or attract EPC Contractor claims or compensation events.

Manage key stakeholder interfaces, developing and maintaining relationships. Represent the Client at liaison group meetings and coordinate public relations responses in conjunction with External Affairs team.

Experience: Project Management experience in multi-disciplinary design and construction projects, ideally within the energy from waste, power generation or other process industries.

Qualification in a construction, commercial, or engineering related discipline.

Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent

Excellent oral and written communicator with the ability to work in close partnership with all parties involved in the project.

Strategic, operational, technical and management skills

Extensive knowledge of EPC Contracts.
