Location: High Wycombe Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 + Car Allowance + Pension + Healthcare
Project: £15m Education Scheme
A well-established regional main contractor based in Berkshire is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a new £15m education scheme in High Wycombe. This project will commence October with pre-construction assistance required from the Project Manager.
The project will involve the demolition of existing buildings, construction of new teaching facilities and refurbishment works to parts of the live existing campus, delivering a modern learning environment for future generations. This is a key role for someone who is confident taking ownership of a live construction project as the site lead, with responsibility for programme, site team, subcontractors, quality, health & safety and client reporting.
The contractor has built a strong reputation across the South and Thames Valley region, delivering a varied portfolio of projects across education, healthcare, commercial, leisure, heritage, refurbishment and new build schemes. They are a well-structured business with a strong regional presence, long-standing client relationships and a healthy pipeline of secured work.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the scheme from site delivery through to completion, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required standard. You will be managing the site team and supply chain, working closely with the commercial team, design team, consultants and client representatives.
Key responsibilities will include:
Taking overall responsibility for the delivery of a £15m education project
Managing the day-to-day site operations, programme and subcontractor performance
Leading site meetings and maintaining clear communication with all project stakeholders
Overseeing demolition, refurbishment and new build works within a live environment
Driving quality, health & safety and site presentation across the project
Working closely with the commercial team on cost control, variations and forecasting
Managing design coordination, technical queries and buildability issues
Ensuring works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications and programme requirements
Producing regular project updates and reporting into senior management
Maintaining strong relationships with the client, consultants and supply chain
Leading by example and creating a well-organised, positive site environment
Managing stakeholder engagement within an occupied educational setting
Coordinating enabling works, demolition activities and phased construction programmes
The Candidate
The client is looking for a Project Manager with a strong main contracting background and proven experience delivering education, public sector or complex refurbishment projects.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience as a Project Manager leading projects as the No.1
Experience delivering projects of around £10m-£20m+
Education, healthcare or public sector project experience
Experience managing demolition, refurbishment and new build works
Strong programme management and technical understanding
Good commercial awareness
Excellent client-facing and communication skills
Ability to manage subcontractors, site teams and consultants effectively
Experience working within live environments
A proactive and organised approach to project delivery
Main contractor experience is essential
