About the Company: Our client is a regional Civil Engineering and Specialist Groundworks and Frames contractor for the South East with turnover in the region of £35m. Contracts procured involve external works and general civil engineering to the petro retail development sectors. The company has had consistent growth for the past 15 (established in the 1980’s) years and is now recognised as a dominant player in the sector of industry that it operates. Its focus on retaining client relationships is central to growth with a significant amount of turnover generated through repeat business.
Below is a specification on the role and requirements:
Project Manager responsible for the complete life cycle production of a single project from
Pre Construction phase thorough to Hand Over to client/main contractor. Primary
responsible for Safety, Health and Environmental responsibilities under Law
Group Policies.
General Description
Definitive responsibility for Client/Contractor relationship, Project Team management and delegation, contractual administration, program delivery, financial control, resource and task scheduling, RA and MS creation, implementation & monitoring, quality & inspection control, sub-contractor governance and daily on-site project management.
Day to day leadership, direction, decision making and management of the overall Project
Possible site activities requiring a high level of expertise and experience:
Enabling works, Soft Strip and Demolition, Civil and Structural Engineering
Minor and Major Temporary Works and Structural Engineering, Ground works incorporating major earthworks, confined excavations, deep excavations, open cut excavations, drainage, underpinning, piling (all forms), retained walling, retained facades, sub-structure re-engineering, sub and super structures, steelwork up to super structure
Ultimately responsible for ensuring the appropriate management, monitoring and control of Safety, Health and Environmental responsibilities of the Group for all operatives, visiting personnel and general public, Interface and liaise with client/main contractor/s or client/main contractors’
Key Areas of representative, where applicable responsibility
Resource management for plant, transport, materials and personnel
Management and delegation of site based project team to deliver activities against Program and instructed items out of scope Reporting to Senior management on KPI’s, project costs, program progress and targets, resource requirements, out of scope works, deviations from plan, breaches of Safety, Health and Environmental issues Overall responsibility for quality control of on-site activities and delivered products
Sub-Contractor and supplier management thorough strict control mechanisms of contractual agreements, relationship management, program adherence, delivery scheduling, quality monitoring and authoritative procedures.
Environmental management control and monitoring
Project Office control incorporating document management, production information
distribution, contractual reviews, RFI, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, out of
scope works, team meeting management and general reporting.
The management of adhoc variations to scoped works, redistribution of resources,
changes to program, variations to contract, additional authorised works.
Previous Project Management experience essential – above at least 3/5 years.
Preferably from a Civil Engineering Company or well established Specialist Sub
Contractor background
Experience of managing major civil structural engineering and demolition
contracts with a value in the region of £1m to £15m .
High level of experience managing complex and challenging demolition, sub-engineering and civil engineering contracts
Client interface and relationship management essential thorough day to day communication, reporting requirements and periodical meetings/project reviews
Knowledge of contractual management
Proven examples of delivering complex, high cost projects on budget and on
Work Experience
program in demanding circumstances
Demonstrate a consummate ability to manage at a high level Site/Section foreman and their respective teams
Must have relevant Safety experience and qualifications
Proficient knowledge base of Method Statement and Risk Assessment methodology
Demonstrable experience of working in a rail environment highly advantageous
Good experience of Program Management, Cost Control, Project Reporting,
High level of PC literacy and competency of Microsoft product range
Highly advantageous – AutoCAD, Asta Power Project, Livelink, Document Management Systems, Project Reporting Software etc
