Project Manager

We are working with a leading main contractor delivering a technically complex programme on one of London's most prestigious landmark developments. This unique project involves the conservation and refurbishment of a nationally significant Grade I Listed structure, requiring the highest levels of engineering, project management and heritage sensitivity.

Due to the complexity and scale of the works, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of the planning, coordination and delivery of extensive temporary works, structural and scaffolding packages.

This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of construction, structural engineering, temporary works and heritage conservation, managing a technically demanding programme where engineering excellence must be balanced with the protection of historic fabric.

Reporting into senior project leadership, you will act as a key interface between the client, consultants, principal contractors, heritage stakeholders and specialist subcontractors, ensuring that safety, engineering, programme, commercial and conservation objectives are successfully aligned throughout delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Taking overall responsibility for the successful planning and delivery of complex temporary works and structural packages from concept through to completion
Developing and implementing project delivery strategies to achieve programme, quality, safety and commercial objectives
Leading multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, design, construction and heritage disciplines
Managing complex temporary works packages, including scaffolding, temporary steel structures, foundations, support systems, access and protection schemes
Coordinating temporary works designers, structural engineers, consultants and specialist contractors
Reviewing and challenging engineering proposals to ensure technical robustness, buildability and compliance
Ensuring temporary works are designed and delivered in accordance with relevant industry standards and established procedures
Managing site delivery through detailed planning, sequencing and coordination of installation works
Monitoring contractor and subcontractor performance across multiple work fronts
Driving safe systems of work and ensuring effective implementation of temporary works procedures
Monitoring programme progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to maintain critical project milestones
Ensuring construction activities are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications and quality standards
Working closely with conservation specialists to ensure construction and engineering activities are sympathetic to the historic fabric of the building
Acting as a key interface between the client, principal contractor, design consultants, Historic England representatives, conservation officers and specialist contractors
Chairing project and stakeholder meetings, providing clear technical, programme and project updates
Preparing project reports and presenting progress, risks and key issues to senior project leadership
Managing technical and operational challenges throughout the construction phase and driving effective solutionsRequirements

Proven experience operating as a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager within a complex construction or engineering environment
Strong experience managing temporary works, structural or specialist engineering packages
Experience with complex scaffolding, temporary steel, support structures, access systems or similar temporary works
Strong understanding of engineering coordination, construction sequencing and site delivery
Experience managing specialist contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams
Strong technical and commercial awareness with the ability to manage programme, risk and delivery objectives
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working across clients, consultants, contractors and specialist stakeholders
Experience working within technically challenging, live or sensitive environments
Strong understanding of health & safety, temporary works procedures and construction compliance
Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
Relevant construction or engineering qualifications preferred
SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualificationsWhat's on Offer
