Project Manager
Exeter | Hybrid Working
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join our client’s team, delivering engineering capital projects across the South West.
This role suits someone with a background in engineering, utilities, infrastructure or construction, confident managing projects from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead engineering capital projects and smaller workstreams through the full lifecycle.
* Manage project scope, budgets, forecasting and cost performance.
* Develop and maintain project programmes, milestones and delivery schedules.
* Identify and manage project risks, issues and opportunities.
* Coordinate contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
* Administer NEC or similar contracts, including early warnings and compensation events.
* Maintain strong commercial, financial and contractual controls.
* Ensure compliance with governance, regulatory and safety requirements.
* Provide clear project reporting on progress, performance and risks.
* Oversee commissioning, handover and project close‑out.
* Build effective relationships with operational teams, customers and stakeholders.
About You
* Proven experience delivering engineering, utilities, infrastructure or construction projects.
* Strong budget management and cost‑control skills.
* Working knowledge of NEC or similar contract forms.
* Experience coordinating contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Confident decision‑maker with strong problem‑solving ability.
* Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining safety, quality and commercial focus.
* Degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or related discipline.
* APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent qualification.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Technical background in relevant discipline (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, ICA, process, environmental, water/wastewater or construction management).
