Project Manager – 11kV–33kV Substations

Location: Colchester, Essex
Salary: £70,000–£75,000 + Company Car + 10% Discretionary Bonus + Healthcare
Employment: Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid – Remote, Office & Site Visits
Start Date: Immediate, subject to notice period

The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a busy Tier 1 contractor, delivering 11kV–33kV substation electrical packages across private networks in Essex and Kent.

This is a key delivery position, working closely with the Framework Director and taking responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple substation projects from mobilisation through to completion.

The role would suit a Project Manager with proven experience within HV substations, private networks, utilities or electrical infrastructure, ideally gained within a Tier 1 contractor or established framework environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the delivery of multiple 11kV–33kV substation projects across Essex and Kent.

* Take ownership of projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.

* Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and engineering resources.

* Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and key deliverables.

* Monitor progress, identify risks and implement mitigation and recovery plans.

* Ensure projects are delivered safely, to programme, specification and required quality standards.

* Work closely with the Framework Director on project delivery and client requirements.

* Liaise with clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

* Manage project documentation, reporting, commercial information and progress updates.

* Support procurement, planning and resource allocation across projects.

* Identify and manage project risks, changes and potential delays.

* Ensure appropriate HSEQ standards and company procedures are maintained.

* Support testing, commissioning and final handover activities.

* Contribute to the ongoing development and successful delivery of the private networks framework.

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Project Manager within substations, utilities, power or electrical infrastructure.

* Previous experience delivering 11kV–33kV substation projects.

* Experience working within a framework environment, ideally with private networks.

* Strong understanding of electrical substation project delivery.

* Experience managing subcontractors, site teams and multiple project stakeholders.

* Strong programme, planning, risk and commercial awareness.

* Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor or major infrastructure contractor is highly desirable.

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

* Ability to manage multiple projects across the Essex and Kent regions.

* Full UK driving licence.
