The Opportunity

Stantec have an opportunity within our Buildings team for an undergraduate to join us on a summer placement in Reading.

This is an office-based placement for a period of 6-12 weeks over the summer months. There may also be an opportunity to visit site. We are ideally seeking a student working towards a degree in mechanical, electrical or civil/structural engineering. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience within a global engineering firm and enhance your future career prospects in the sector.

You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to our expanding portfolio of working on a significant UK investment for a new electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility in Somerset amongst other high-profile projects. Our Integrated multi-discipline service includes all building engineering consulting services.

As a placement student working with Stantec you will be assisting our Building’s team in the delivery of key projects and your duties will include the following:

* Supporting the project team by assisting with document control and general design management.

* Assist engineers with design tasks using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit).

* Conduct research and data analysis to support engineering projects.

* Prepare or assist the team with technical reports and presentations.

* Attending client meetings with the design team and design team meetings. Recording and documenting decisions and actions.

* Liaise with the design teams on active projects and to manage and procure deliverables on time.

Working with the broader team you will gain insight across all engineering disciplines and obtain useful experience on a key national manufacturing investment project.

ABOUT YOU

To join us for a summer placement you will ideally be enrolled on an MEng or BEng course in mechanical or electrical engineering or civil engineering with an interest in building design.

You will also have the following criteria:

* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs

* A passion for engineering and an interest in buildings

* A desire for a future career in engineering

* Excellent communications skills

You must be eligible to live and work in the UK and be able to attend our Reading office 5 days per week.
