Description:

Project & Maintenance Engineer | Barrow (with occasional visits to Grimsby) | £30,000–£35,000 per year (DOE)

Intermarine has been designing, supplying and installing pontoons, marinas and moorings since 1992, serving both leisure and commercial sectors.

We deliver a mix of standard systems and bespoke engineered solutions, alongside inspection, maintenance and long-term asset management services for clients including the Ministry of Defence and the offshore energy sector. Our work is carried out across the UK and international markets, primarily within Europe.

We are looking for an electrical or mechanical engineer, or an experienced technician, to join our team in a technically focused role combining maintenance delivery, project coordination and client interface across live marine infrastructure contracts. Working alongside the Site Manager, the role combines hands-on maintenance coordination with planning, reporting and contract administration responsibilities required to successfully deliver works.

The Role

This position offers a clear pathway for career progression, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for planning and project delivery while developing both commercial and technical experience. Intermarine actively supports ongoing training, mentoring and professional development to help you progress within the role.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organise and support delivery of planned, remedial and reactive maintenance works
Coordinate subcontractors, site activities and required resources
Prepare and review RAMS, ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with site requirements
Monitor progress, track completion and support reporting of works
Investigate technical issues and contribute to fault-finding and resolution
Liaise with clients, colleagues and stakeholders, providing clear updates on progress
Support preparation of quotations, work scopes and associated documentation
Review completed works and identify opportunities for improvement
Requirements

Essential

2+ years’ post-graduate engineering experience, or 5+ years in trade/construction
Electrical or mechanical background, or transferable experience within a relevant environment
An interest in developing project coordination and delivery skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Experience with site safety processes, including RAMS and audits
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and produce clear reports
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site
Desirable

Experience working in coastal, marine or industrial environments
Relevant engineering qualification (degree or equivalent)
NEBOSH or IOSH certification
18th Edition electrical qualification
CompEx certification
We recognise that not all candidates will meet every criterion listed. If you are interested in the role and feel you can contribute, we encourage you to apply.

What’s In It For You

Flexible working arrangements (typically 08:00–17:00, with flexibility depending on site requirements)
A supportive working environment within a growing and forward-thinking company
The opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting marine infrastructure projects
Ongoing training, mentoring and professional development to support career progression
Exposure to innovative and sustainable technologies within the sector
Access to additional training, including health and safety qualifications, GWO training and specialist operational courses
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups within engineering and construction.

Intermarine Ltd is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
