Project Engineer / Technology Engineer - HS1 Rail Infrastructure
6-Month Contract | Potential Permanent Opportunity
Reporting to: Head of Innovation - Network Rail High Speed (HS1)
Inside IR35
£450 to £470 per day (Umbrella rate).
Hybrid - Location Stratford London.
We are seeking a technically strong Project Engineer / Technology Engineer to support innovation projects across the HS1 asset base. The role will focus on automation, digital technologies, and improving maintenance efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver innovation and technology projects across HS1
Support automation of inspection and maintenance activities
Implement emerging technologies and digital solutions
Drive operational efficiency and asset performance improvements
Engage with engineering, operations, and external technology partners
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience delivering technology or innovation projects
Exposure to drones and/or remote condition monitoring
Strong technical mindset with software/systems understanding
Ability to work autonomously and engage senior stakeholders
Experience working in a regulated engineering environment
Desirable
Rail, infrastructure, or asset management experience
Exposure to AI, automation, digital inspection, or smart technologies
Knowledge of One Big Circle, AiVR, or Transmission Dynamics
Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Technology, Software, or Computer Science (desirable)
Chartered Engineer status, or working towards, preferred
