Description:

Our client has a unique opportunity for a Project Engineer from a mechanical and electrical background. Candidates are expected to have engineering knowledge from a building services/construction related field.

Based on a programme of work within sustainability related projects you will represent the Client in managing contractors, ensuring projects run to plan.

Reporting into the Programme Design Manager, you'll play a key role in the Construction team, responsible for ensuring design meets needs across varied MEP projects.

Role Overview

Developing project scope and delivering effective design management: This involves defining the parameters and goals of each project to align with business objectives, and overseeing the design process to ensure it meets those requirements.

Working with multiple stakeholders: This includes collaborating with various parties involved in the project, such as clients, contractors, architects, engineers and regulatory bodies to ensure all perspectives are considered and the project is delivered successfully.

Seeking sustainable design solutions: In addition to meeting project requirements, this duty involves implementing measures to reduce carbon emissions and the environmental impact throughout the construction process. This can include strategies like energy-efficient design, sustainable materials selection, waste reduction, and optimising transportation logistics.

Seeking cost-effective design solutions: Balancing sustainability with cost-efficiency is crucial in this role. It involves finding innovative yet economical ways to achieve project goals while minimising costs

Managing external design consultants: This responsibility involves overseeing the work of external design partners or consultants, ensuring they deliver high-quality designs that meet project objectives and sustainability goals.

Providing technical input throughout the project lifecycle: This entails offering expertise and guidance on design-related decisions at various stages of the project, from conception to completion, to ensure the final outcome meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements for the role

Educated to Degree level or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Experience in Engineering Design or Design Management on Significant Projects: Candidates should have a proven track record of working on substantial projects involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.

Experience of Projects with a Typical Value in Excess of £5million or who have managed or been involved in large scale projects with significant budgets.

Understanding of Project Closeout and Handover Process: This will encompass tasks such as final inspections, documentation completion, training, and ensuring that all systems are operating as intended before handover.
