Description:

CNC Recruitment is seeking a dynamic Project Engineer to join our client in Honiton area - a global leader in the military sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and be proficient in various software tools and systems design.
Key Responsibilities
• Must be able to translate the Customers requirements to deliverable engineering tasks. Working hand in hand with the Project manager you will take the plan through to production.
• Work closely with Design engineers and build teams to draw, plan and deliver a manufactured product to the customer. Design work, checking a fault finding drawings along with practical testing of parts and systems will be a daily event.
• Needs to be flexible and adaptive to manage the design team to a shared and understood version of the customers’ requirements. This will be done in line with quality and assurance standards and supported by senior Project and principal engineers.
• Must have a high level of automotive engineering understanding, across all aspects of the design and build. From the first concept drawing to final testing and hand over to the customer you will be involved.
• High level of communication skills and influence internally to SC Group and with external agencies.
Personal specification:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering is usually the minimum requirement for a project engineer position. Common majors include mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering. Some employers may prefer candidates with a master's degree, especially for more specialized roles or advancement opportunities.
- Strong technical skills related to the specific field of engineering are essential. This includes knowledge of engineering principles, design software, and relevant technologies. Project engineers often need proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and other tools specific to their industry.
- Project engineers oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects. Therefore, they need strong project management skills, including the ability to create and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively. Knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall can be beneficial.
- Effective communication is crucial for project engineers, as they need to interact with clients, team members, suppliers, and other stakeholders. They must be able to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Project engineers often encounter technical challenges and unexpected issues during project execution. They should have strong problem-solving skills to identify issues, analyze potential solutions, and implement effective resolutions.
- Project engineers work closely with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and other professionals. They should be able to collaborate effectively with team members and provide leadership to keep projects on track.
- While entry-level positions may be available for recent graduates, many employers prefer candidates with relevant work experience. Prior experience in engineering roles, particularly in project management or project coordination, can be highly advantageous.
- While not always required, certifications can enhance a project engineer's credentials. For example, obtaining a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) demonstrates proficiency in project management practices.
