GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a highly recognisable, leading Engineering company located in Gloucestershire. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for someone to join their team as a Project Engineer on a full time, permanent contract.

The position is working 37 hours a week, Monday – Friday. This role comes with a highly competitive salary which is pending experience, plus excellent fringe benefits including 33 days holiday including bank holidays.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a time served Project Engineer having gained experience with a Design Consultancy Practice, Civil Engineering Contractor, Bridge Manufacturer or Steelwork Fabricator. In addition, the ideal candidate for this role will have an ICE recognised Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, excellent IT skills specifically the Microsoft Office suite and the ability to use the latest versions of AutoCAD, Inventor.

Project Engineer main duties:

* Ensure that all business is carried out ethically and complies with the company’s Business Ethics and Conduct Policy.

* Prepare complete and precise calculations for steel bridge structures and components utilizing knowledge of construction and engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete calculation packages.

* Calculations may be developed in Metric, US Customary or a combination of both.

* Provide technical / engineering input into proposals and projects, including estimates of engineering hours when required.

* Prepare bills of material from drawings created.

* Review work product for completeness and accuracy.

* Attend project / client technical meetings for tenders and / or projects as required.

* Understand and adhere to all the clients policies and applicable laws.

* Travel to other the clients Locations or Customer Sites as necessary.

Project Engineer required skills and experience:

* Four to six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience

* ICE recognized Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

* Associate Member of the ICE or IStructE, actively working toward Chartered status

* Knowledge of British and European Codes for Bridges and Steel Construction

* Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)

* Ability to use and demonstrate at least one of the following, LUSAS, Ansys, Superstress, Mathcad, AutoCAD LT, Mechanical CAD ver. 2018 or higher software.

* Ability to write, analyse and interpret technical data inclusive of drawings, calculations, and specifications.

* Practical knowledge and application of engineering formulas in relation to the relevant codes in the design of structural steel members and connections

* Understanding of standard drafting terminology, abbreviations, symbols, dimensioning techniques, and procedures

* Ability to design steel components following relevant codes.

* Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
