Are you driven by dynamic and entrepreneurial work environments?Turner Lovell have been exclusively selected to identify an experienced and entrepreneurial Project Development Director to join an ambitious international offshore wind and grid developer. Our client, a start-up, backed by Europe's most reliable energy providers aims to secure a leading role in the offshore grid sector. They are realising their vision to develop, build, connect and maintain offshore grid and HVDC interconnector projects across Europe and USA.

As the Senior Project Development Director, you will take a leading role in developing flagship projects from early-stage development to FID. These projects include multi-purpose interconnectors and point to point HVDC Interconnector and offshore wind grid connections. You will lead and motivate a team of experts and consultants to achieve the project objectives.

As the Senior Project Development Director, you will lead the project through basic engineering / FEED, grid connections, partnership development, regulatory approval, consenting and supply chain development. You will work with the senior leadership of the company and colleagues to present the business case to secure FID and then drive the project during the execution phase.

The ideal candidate will have worked for a developer of similar projects and have a successful track record developing large (+1bn€) offshore wind and/or transmission grid projects in a commercial or project leadership role.

Key Responsibilities:

Take the lead in developing offshore HVDC projects considering engineering, equipment supply, regulatory frameworks, consenting and partnership development.
Drive project development activity to achieve objectives from basic engineering to final investment decision, leading all aspects including cable route planning, grid connection approval, permitting, procurement, and contracting for offshore grid and HVDC projects.
Provide inspiring leadership to international, cross-functional project teams including package managers, commercial and regulatory experts.
Build and nurture strategic relationships with key stakeholders including project partners, external consultancies, OEMS / EPCS in the supply chain, and internal stakeholders.
Work closely with government departments in the UK and EU to influence and secure regulatory approvals.
Own full P&L responsibility for the project, manage project budgets and timelines to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
Proactively identify and mitigate risks
Recruit and build an entrepreneurial team spirit and ensure the objectives, vision and values of the company and project remain in focus.Your Profile:

Proven track record, as Project Director, successfully leading and developing offshore transmission/generation assets in the renewable energy sector.
Master's in Engineering or equivalent with at least 10+ years' experience in transmission or generation projects.
Previous work experience working for an offshore wind developer, TSO or Owners Engineer in a leadership role.
Previous experience leading projects from early stage development to FID phase.
Interest or knowledge of multi-purpose interconnectors
At least generalist knowledge of transmission packages in offshore development.
Strong awareness of OPEX, CAPEX, LCOE, contracting and other commercial topics.
Well developed leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate teams to a common goal, in a face paced environment.
Exceptional communication skills in order to communicate at exec-board level, with governmental departments, with internal stake holders and motivate multi-disciplinary teams.
Extensive stakeholder management experience across complex, global organizations.
Results-driven team player with ability to deliver deadlines in an dynamic and ambiguous industry environment.
