Manufacturing Technician

Location: Paisley Area, Renfrewshire
Pay Rate: £17.24 per hour
Contract Length: Initial 3-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 Hours per Week
Start Date: Immediate Start Available

The Opportunity

Our client, a leading organisation within the life sciences and manufacturing sector, is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join their production team in Paisley. This position plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring equipment, materials, and work areas are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality, and GMP compliance.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with previous manufacturing experience and a strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Key Responsibilities

Bottle & Supply Management

Order and manage bottles, consumables, and production materials required for manufacturing activities.
Ensure materials are available at the point of use to avoid production delays.
Monitor stock levels and proactively flag shortages.
Store and handle materials in accordance with GMP requirements.

Equipment Cleaning & Preparation

Clean manufacturing equipment and associated work areas following approved procedures.
Ensure equipment is prepared and available to support production schedules.
Complete cleaning and maintenance records accurately.
Report defects, damage, or equipment concerns promptly.

Workplace Organisation & 5S

Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient manufacturing environment.
Follow 5S principles and ensure materials and equipment are stored correctly.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and workplace efficiency.
Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout every shift.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

Follow all health and safety procedures and site regulations.
Wear and correctly use all required PPE.
Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Follow GMP requirements, SOPs, and approved documentation processes.
Escalate quality issues, deviations, or manufacturing concerns promptly.
Support contamination control and product quality initiatives.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

Minimum one year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Minimum one year of experience working within a GMP-regulated environment.
Experience following SOPs and quality-controlled processes.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Essential Skills

Ability to prioritise tasks and respond to changing production requirements.
Inventory and stock management awareness.
Strong commitment to GMP compliance and quality standards.
Good communication skills.
Team-focused approach with a proactive attitude.

Desirable Experience

GMP training or certification.
Experience supporting manufacturing operations within pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, or other regulated industries.
Knowledge of 5S and continuous improvement practices.

Working Environment

The role is based onsite within a manufacturing facility and requires working in a controlled environment.

Candidates must be comfortable with:

Gowning up and down at the beginning and end of each shift.
Wearing PPE provided by the employer.
Standing and moving throughout the shift.
Working within GMP-controlled areas.
Maintaining strict hygiene and contamination control standards.

Shift Patterns

Early Shift

Monday to Friday
6:00am to 2:00pm

Back Shift

Monday to Friday
2:00pm to 10:00pm

Night Shift

Sunday to Friday
10:00pm to 6:00amAll the above is in one week rotations
