Contract role- 6 months initially

£35.66 per hour umbrella

Day shift 8am to 4pm monday to Friday

Canton depot (Cardiff)

Role Summary

Production Support Technician will be expected to work as part of a team, ensuring the improved reliability of Class 197 trains by implementing modification and fleet campaigns. They will also be responsible for completing overhaul activities and repairs relating to Damage and Vandalism to ensure an effective, reliable fleet with excellent availability.
Production Support Technician will carry out a variety of tasks including stripping out vehicle interiors, running and crimping cable looms, installing new equipment and components, modifying existing structures and functional testing. Technicians will be required to work on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively participate H&S inspections and audits.
Work with management to implement the company's Safety Policies and procedures and lead by
example.
Work with management to implement the company's Quality policies and procedures.
Ensure and maintain all areas in line with the high standards of 5S.
Generate a continuous improvement culture.
Maintain a high level of quality standards, with all work completed in accordance with railway industry,
site, and Company standards.
Provide support to the Production Team of designated depots where required.
Carry out mechanical and electrical modifications or campaigns on the rolling stock vehicles in a timely
manner and in accordance with the vehicle modification instructions, mechanical drawings and
electrical schematics.
Carry out fault finding/repair work arising additional services or vandalism.
Carry out VMI task apply to overhauls activities or others.
Active support and follow the improvement plan release from LEO.
Support other production activities as required when business needs dictate.
Occasional travel is required to CAF Designated Depots.
Drive trains within the depot when required, in accordance with all applicable safety procedures and
operational instructions.
Use GMAO / COCOCHI or other company IT tools to ensure that all records are maintained with
accurate and up to date information.
In addition to any other type of activity that is within their capabilities.
Due to project requirements, can be required to carry out any activities at locations outside of the
designated depots.

ACADEMIC &/OR PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Level 3 of relevant engineering qualification

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2 years of experience working in an engineering or rail environment.

PERSONAL SKILLS:

Planning and organization skills to be able run and monitor the production processes.
The ability to act decisively and solve employee, vehicle, or equipment-related problems.
Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality.
The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team, managers, and key stakeholders
