We are currently recruiting for a hands-on Production Supervisor to join a manufacturing business based in Durham.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Production Supervisor or Team Leader looking to take the next step in their career, with a clear opportunity for long-term progression into a more senior management position.
Working closely with the Site Manager, you will take responsibility for overseeing day-to-day production operations, leading a team of approximately 20 employees and ensuring production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise, lead and motivate a production team of approximately 20 employees.
* Organise and coordinate daily production activities.
* Ensure production targets, quality standards and delivery deadlines are met.
* Monitor team performance and provide coaching, training and feedback.
* Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.
* Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
* Carry out safety audits and risk assessments.
* Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
* Identify production inefficiencies and implement improvements.
* Maintain product quality standards and support ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
* Work closely with the Site Manager to improve operational performance.
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum 3–5 years' experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
* Previous experience supervising or leading a production team.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and best practices.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
* Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and organise workloads effectively.
* A proactive, hands-on approach to production management.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification, or equivalent Health & Safety training.
* Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management or equivalent.
* Internal Quality Auditor training.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
* Experience implementing measurable improvements within a manufacturing environment.
