Description:

We are recruiting for a Production Planning Manager to join our Manufacturing team at our Whitley Head Office to help us efficiently, and effectively build lifesaving and life changing products for our all-important customers.

This is a full time (37.5 hrs per week), role, based onsite at our Whitley Head Office (DN14 0HR).

What will you be doing in this role?

As our Production Planning Manager you will provide production & material planning to ensure delivery of the Master Production Schedule (MPS). You will be responsible for the forecasting and planning, as well as managing the processes and transactions for the business in line with our sales and operations planning (S&OP) process.

The ideal candidate:

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, have strong IT skills (MS Office, ERP), collaborative in their approach, able to work well independently or as part of a team. You will have previous production planning experience within a manufacturing environment and have worked with enterprise resource planning (ERP) / material requirements planning (MRP) / master production schedule (MPS) systems. You will have proven experience of producing master schedules for production and monitoring the progress of these.

Your key day-to-day responsibilities could include…

Assist during the forecasting process (updating forecast templates, consolidating territories feedback reports, analysing results, and loading MPS),

Participate into the S&OP monthly meeting and other meetings where Production Planning is required to provide input,

Liaise with buyers to ensure material availability, to meet production plan,

To be a key member of the management team and contribute to the overall strategy for the supply chain and operation of the business,

To support production to meet the required delivery dates and allow shipment of units and spares on-time-in-full (OTIF) through expediting and substituting where required to meet critical timelines,

Manage Engineering changes effectively to reduce risk of obsolescence,

Where required modify production bill of materials (BOM’s) to ensure correct material and hours are used up and reported on,

Dealing quickly with any problems that may delay the plan and liaising with relevant departments and stakeholders,

Create and actively progress /manage productions plans,

Raise, schedule, and if required re-schedule production orders to effectively support MRP/MPS requirements,

Actively strive to reduce production work-in-progress (WIP), by working with production staff to shorten lead times of sub-assemblies through production,

Accurately control inventories, WIP and waste whilst ensuring that contractual obligations may be satisfied and working capital is not negatively impacted,

Expedite production to ensure completion of orders,

Ensure all company policies and procedures are always complied with,

To facilitate effective communications, liaising with Managers/Team Leaders and support areas to achieve company objectives,

Ensuring that high housekeeping standards are maintained,

Apply continuous improvement philosophy and techniques to aid efficiency and effectiveness.

Key skills and experience:

Proven production planning environment,

Knowledge of ERP systems, IFS preferred,

Previous experience of utilising an ERP system to support a robust Manufacturing plan,

Proven experience of producing master schedules for production and monitoring their progress,

Multi-level planning experience preferably within manufacturing environment, involving MRP/MPS systems,

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes,

Stock Control and Inventory Management experience,

Analytical approach, and comfortable working with figures,

Strong IT skills, able to use computer software including intermediate excel spreadsheets, to create plans, collect, and analyse figures for schedules and reports,

Excellent problem-solving skills and able to deal with change,

Able to make decisions quickly and sometimes under pressure to meet tight timescales,

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,

Be able to work quickly, accurately, and have a high attention to detail,

Excellent organisational skills,

Flexible in approach, who works well as a team, willing to participate and support as required.
