Production Planning/ Logistics Assistant – The Role:

This is a dual role what includes supporting the logistics activities as well as making sure production planning process works effectively and comply with short- and long-term business goals. Production Planning / Logistics Assistant’s responsibilities will include assisting in production scheduling, coordinating manufacturing cells and facilitating seamless communication between departments.

Production Planning/ Logistics Assistant – Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the logistics activities:

- Deputise for stores personnel during absences etc

- Supporting stores personnel in time of high load / demand

- Place non-stock orders, making sure all approvals and associated documentation is present and correct. Review sources and pricing to offer best value for the business for consumable warehouse

- Chase up acknowledgements and follow up on scheduled deliveries to ensure on time delivery for consumable warehouse

- Maintaining suppliers correct contact details and support with quality certification for the company approved supplier list

- Assist the Materials Manager as directed with planning related matters

- Assist in creating and maintaining production schedules based on demand forecasts and inventory levels ensuring accuracy of inventory in MRP/ERP system

- Support production planning process, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and regularly communicate with all teams to create the most effective plan

- Support in clearly communicating the production plan and assumptions with the materials team to ensure aligned understanding

- Supporting the collation of operational information, reports and metrics, ensuring they are up to date and available, as and when required

- Assist in reporting on key performance indicators

- Review and monitor stock levels to match the company’s usage for relevant warehouses

- Maintain MRP/ERP system and relevant TM specifications for production planning and procurement purposes

- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards

- Maintaining a continuous improvement approach to our processes, systems and tools

Production Planning/ Logistics Assistant – You:

- Minimum GCSEs English & Maths

- Previous experience in a production planning/ manufacturing environment

- Experience of working with MRP systems is essential

- Experience in the field of purchasing activities with relation to Cost, Delivery and Quality performance

- Fast paced manufacturing environment, or similar environment

- Knowledge and understanding the purpose of MRP/ERP systems

- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities

- Accuracy in data management and reporting

- Fully PC literate, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum)

- Numerate and literate

- Methodical and good attention to details

- Effective communicator – both verbal and written

- Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

- “Hands on” approach to all tasks

- Ability to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve results

- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-moving production environment

- Positive, can-do attitude and approach to all situations and problems

- Set priorities, considering short and long-term needs of the business

- Reliable

- Team player

- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
