Production Operative

We have a great opportunity for 3 Production operatives to join us at British Gypsum, based in Loughborough. You will work safely as part of a small team or as an individual to satisfy customer requirements in both terms of on time delivery and quality. The plasterboard plant at East Leake is an area that manufactures plasterboard from raw materials, some of which are mined on site!

Working on a semi-automated production lines with a high level of autonomy you will be expected to maintain World Class Performance working either as an individual or as part of a small but high performing team.

Key responsibilities:

Championing best Health & Safety practices: identify, report and rectify hazards either autonomously or with the involvement of the wider team, upholds British Gypsum's "safety is our number one priority" approach
Quality is secondary only to safety when decision making, has understanding of departmental quality standards, will perform regular quality checks, identifying, isolating and reporting any faulty materials
Working a rotating shift pattern 7-7 days and nights, working autonomously, taking responsibility for a piece of machinery for your shift, following Standard Operating Procedures, carrying out autonomous maintenance and housekeeping tasks as part of your team
Works diligently in small, high performing operations team, but also has the ability to operate alone and use own initiative, integrates oneself as an indispensable part of team, when making decisions doesn't only consider current issues, but the department / site as a whole, has an understanding of the collective of all shift and performance teams working towards one common goal

What we're looking for in a Production Operative:

Ideally come from a background in continuous manufacturing, however we will consider a range of backgrounds.
Be comfortable operating a forklift truck and be able to pass an assessment.
Have well developed communication skills, displaying these while on the production line, during hand-overs, and with the internal communication system (SCADA)
