CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Cirencester, Gloucestershire

Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineer to join a precision engineering environment specialising in the production of complex, high-tolerance components. This position offers the chance to work on a varied mix of prototype, NPI, and low-volume manufacturing projects, supporting the complete production process from programming through to shop-floor implementation.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing CNC machining processes, creating technical documentation, and supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimise CNC programs using CAM software for complex machined components.

Generate detailed manufacturing documentation, including setup sheets, job packs, and process instructions

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and low-volume production projects.

Interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing specifications (GD&T).

Liaise with engineering, design, purchasing, and production teams to ensure efficient manufacturing processes.

Define tooling requirements and support procurement of cutting tools and consumables.

Create and maintain routings, structures, and production data within the ERP system.

Monitor machine maintenance schedules and maintain accurate TPM documentation.

Coordinate servicing activities and liaise with external maintenance providers when required.

Manage tooling inventory and support effective stock control processes.

Ensure manufacturing information and documentation are accurately controlled and maintained.

Promote a safe and efficient working environment in line with company procedures.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:

A minimum of three years' experience in CNC programming and CAM programming.

Strong knowledge of CNC machining techniques and manufacturing processes.

Experience using CAM software such as HyperMILL, Mastercam, Edgecam, Siemens NX, Fusion 360, PowerMill, SolidCAM, FeatureCAM, or similar platforms.

Ability to program and optimise machining operations for precision-engineered components.

Experience working with both production and prototype/NPI projects.

Confidence interpreting detailed engineering drawings and GD&T requirements

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Good computer literacy and experience working with production documentation.

Desirable Experience

5-axis CNC programming experience

Previous experience within a subcontract machining environment.

Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing routings.

Mechanical assembly experience.

Familiarity with tooling management systems and inventory control.
