Description:

Talent Guardian is recruiting on behalf of an established food business for a Production Engineer to join its brand-new production plant in Bradford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, multi-skilled engineer who enjoys fault-finding, maintaining automated equipment and improving production reliability.

Working across electrical and mechanical maintenance, you'll help keep the plant running safely and efficiently through planned preventative maintenance, responsive breakdown support and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production equipment, utilities and building services.
Respond to breakdowns on filling, capping, labelling and packing lines, as well as oil storage and transfer equipment.
Diagnose faults on PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives, motors, pumps, pneumatics and hydraulics.
Complete electrical and mechanical repairs and minor modifications, ensuring electrical work meets 18th Edition requirements.
Carry out routine inspections, lubrication and condition checks to identify potential problems before they cause downtime.
Maintain and test metal detectors, checkweighers and other critical food safety equipment.
Support the maintenance of compressed air, boilers or steam systems, chillers and effluent systems.
Keep accurate maintenance records using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Help improve maintenance schedules, spare parts availability and equipment reliability.
Use root cause analysis to reduce recurring breakdowns and improve line efficiency.
Follow safe isolation, permit-to-work and food safety procedures, including BRCGS engineering hygiene standards.
Work closely with production colleagues and other engineering trades, supporting general site maintenance when required. What we're looking for

City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3 or HNC qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
An 18th Edition qualification.
Strong multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
Experience fault-finding on PLCs and automated production controls.
Working knowledge of drives, motors, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatics.
A good understanding of health and safety, safe isolation and permit-to-work systems.
A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience within food, drink, edible oils or FMCG manufacturing would be advantageous, particularly with filling and packing lines, liquid processing equipment, tank farms or pipework. Familiarity with BRCGS standards, structured PPM programmes and CMMS systems would also be beneficial.

What's on offer

£50,000 per annum.
Permanent, full-time employment.
Monday to Friday day shifts.
The opportunity to work at a brand-new production plant.
Hands-on experience with modern, automated production equipment.
A maintenance-focused position with a clear PPM programme and opportunities to develop your skills
