Production Control & Logistics Internship

Coventry. Full Time, Fixed Term Contract for 12 months.

Salary £23,000 per annum

The Company:

Burbidge & Son manufactures the Kitchen Makers brand of bespoke traditional kitchen furniture. They are an established family business which manufactures and supplies high quality furniture. They are looking to hire an intern who will be trained in all aspects of the role.

Reporting to the Manager, this role has a good degree of autonomy and variety. It will therefore suit candidates who enjoy working across a wide range of tasks, who are self-motivated and enjoy working under their own initiative.

The Role

This role would suit a recent graduate in engineering or a related discipline, who is looking to quickly gain strong skills and extensive real world experience of Production Planning and Logistics. The environment is the manufacture of furniture brands in a friendly and supportive factory environment. There are distinct opportunities for the right person to progress within the business at the end of the contract. If you are someone who enjoys working across a wide range of tasks, who is self-motivated and who enjoys working under their own initiative in a close knit team, this could be for you. Comprehensive training and support will be provided. This is a great opportunity to gain new skills and make a satisfying contribution.

Working hours for this role are 35 hours per week over five days, Monday to Thursday from 8.00am - 4.15pm and Fridays from 8.00am to 3.45pm. This is a fixed term role for a period of 12 months.

Benefits:

30 days annual leave.

In addition to the annual leave, employees receive 22 Fridays off each year on a rota basis.

Role Elements

Planning & raising manufacturing works orders, for stock and to order, using ERP.

Planning production schedules.

Expediting works orders and reporting on progress against plan.

Despatching consignments.

Supporting the team with administrative duties.

Contributing to systems improvements.

Providing cover for logistics administration during periods of absence.

Optimisation of CNC machine cutting patterns.

Supporting the delivery of Health & Safety.

Requirements

Recent graduate in Production Engineering or a related discipline.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong MS Office & IT Skills.

Experience of using MRP/ERP systems would be a distinct advantage.

High standards of accuracy and attention to detail, with a structured approach.

Excellent organisational skills.

Ability to work under pressure, under own initiative.

Driver with own vehicle.

This role involves working across two sites placed 5 miles apart. There is free parking available on both sites.
