Product Development Engineer - BAE Glascoed

Location: Glascoed
Positions: x1
Working arrangements: 37 hours Mon- Thu with Fridays off. 7:15am - 5pm -can be flexible
Rate: 38.25ph umbrella (inside IR35)
Security: BPSS only

Skills including electronics design as well as a high degree of competence in mechanical integration and systems engineering / Model Based engineering.

What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting the product design and systems engineering activities for new and legacy products, including product design and evaluation using systems engineering tools (e.g. MBSE, Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)).

• Hands on development with energetic materials and munitions to support product design and development activity

• Conducting and managing product and process design, development, test, manufacture and evaluation activities, ensuring safety remains the highest priority in the working practices of yourself and the team

• Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner, from planning through to trials execution and reporting conclusions

• Application of effective Engineering Governance throughout the product development lifecycle supporting design reviews from concept to disposal

• Configuration and maintenance of Engineering Bills of Materials for products

• Support the generation of costed proposals for external customers

• Cross functional stakeholder management and collaborative working to support project and proposal delivery

Your skills and experiences:
• Proven record of supporting engineering teams and projects

• Strong Engineering skills: particularly the ability to identify issues, conduct technical analysis of causes and identify solutions

• Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications.

• It is desirable for engineers to become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve relevant accreditation.

Artillery Team:
You will be integrated within the Artillery Development team to ensure project delivery. Working alongside the Portfolio Manager and reporting to the Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving artillery systems and munitions, providing expert technical support to ensure safe, reliable, and effective capability across training and operational environments. The role also involves planning, supporting, and overseeing technical trials, along with producing and managing the associated safety, assurance, and engineering documentation. The position will be primarily based at the BAE Systems Land UK site in Glascoed, Monmouthshire on a four-day working pattern with intermittent travel to other customer, manufacturing and test and evaluation sites when required
