We are currently looking for a Product Designer to join our growing team at our Bedford Headquarters – MK41 0LF.
Established in 1994, Dunster House Ltd is a growing family run, international business currently employing over 420 people across our 11 UK sites.
With 30 years of designing, manufacturing and retailing garden lifestyle products we are proud to be garden building specialists and distribute our products on our own fleet of vehicles to our customers.
This role will involve taking very basic concepts from whiteboards and post-it notes and developing them into fully manufacturable products with production and assembly instructions, bill of materials, costings etc. The role will be primarily developing products in existing lines (e.g. garden buildings), with occasional R&D work on product diversification. The successful candidate will be fully workshop trained by Dunster House and will be expected to produce, assemble, scrutinise, optimise and refine product prototypes.
Minimum Requirements
* HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant design or technical field
* 1 year professional or educational parametric CAD experience (Not Sketchup, BIM, or rendering)
* 2D drafting experience, creation of technical drawings, dimensioning, tolerancing etc.
* Keen interest and experience of building and making things, can be professional or otherwise
* GCSE or equivalent Maths grade A or above
Desirable but not essential
* Product data management experience, e.g working with component data, material requirements, BOMs, change management etc
* 3 years professional CAD experience with Autodesk Inventor
* Experience with self-managing projects
