Procurement Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Manager to join a growing contractor, taking responsibility for supplier and subcontractor management, procurement strategy and supply chain compliance.
Working as part of the Commercial & Contracts team, you will play a key role in securing best value, strengthening supplier relationships and ensuring the supply chain meets the business’s operational, commercial and compliance requirements.
You will also support the implementation of a new ERP system, helping to improve procurement processes, reporting and supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and develop the Preferred Supplier List (PSL), ensuring suppliers and subcontractors meet all required compliance, accreditation, insurance and health and safety standards.
* Source suppliers, obtain competitive quotations, negotiate pricing and agreements, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews, monitoring KPIs and addressing any areas for improvement.
* Build strong, long-term relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality, value and continuity of supply.
* Work closely with internal teams to understand procurement requirements and support project mobilisation and site operations.
* Analyse supplier expenditure, monitor costs and produce procurement reports to support commercial decision-making.
* Support the implementation of a new ERP system, including supplier data, pricing agreements, compliance records and process improvements.
* Attend project start meetings, visit contract sites as required and ensure procurement arrangements are in place.
* Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and responsible sourcing throughout the supply chain.
About You
* A relevant professional qualification, such as MCIPS, or equivalent practical experience.
* Previous experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally within construction or a related industry.
* Strong commercial awareness, with experience negotiating supplier agreements and securing competitive pricing.
* A good understanding of construction procurement, subcontractor management and UK supply markets.
* Experience managing PSL’s, supplier audits, compliance checks and performance reviews.
* Excellent relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills.
* Strong analytical and organisational skills, including supplier spend analysis and cost reporting.
* Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, with ERP or procurement system experience advantageous.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of compliance.
* A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel across the UK when required.
