Brakes are currently recruiting for a Procurement Apprentice to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. Our role is a 36-month apprenticeship programme, offering hybrid working, with 2 days on site in the Ashford, Kent office per week, so you must be within a commutable distance.

This role is integral to delivering a customer focussed range. You’ll support the wider Merchandising team, by ensuring we source products effectively, drive profitability and manage suppliers and partner relations within the merchandising function. During the apprenticeship, you will engage in rotations across the different Merchandising teams, to give you experience working with all product categories across the business - A great way to gain valuable experience!

We will support you during your apprenticeship as you will spend an average of 20% per week engaging in on-the-job training to complete the Level 4 CIPS Diploma, in order to formalise your understanding and knowledge of procurement skills & best practices.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, ambitious, and keen to develop their understanding of Merchandising as a function of the wider organisation. A passion for food and food trends, to help understand customer needs and market demands will support the candidates' understanding of the merchandising role in delighting customers. The role will involve controlling the cost of goods, (ensuring we source responsibly and support our CSR credentials), whilst managing commercial terms and business planning effectively with our supplier base, including Sysco & European buying alliance partnerships.

You’ll have an interest in business, keen to join a global organisation to develop your commercial acumen. Previous buying experience is not required, although we are looking for someone confident and organised, who enjoys building relationships and working in a team. You’ll have strong planning and prioritisation skills whilst demonstrating your resilience under pressure and be able to manage conflicting priorities using your excellent time management skills. This role requires Level 2 Mathematics and English (equivalent to GCSE grade C or above).
