Description:

We are currently seeking a Process Technician (Chemical Engineering Student Placement), to work with our global FMCG client, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £24,787.75 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

This role is open to current Chemical Engineering undergraduate students on track for a least a 2:1, only.

The Sulphonation Industrial Placement Process Technician owns the performance data analytics, process parameters, plant optimisation and problem solving for the manufacturing process. They are responsible to identify and assist the top loss elimination in Cost, Waste, Energy, MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) reduction by forming specific improvement work streams. They are responsible for providing the right performance data for the make workflows and problem-solving sessions. They are responsible for building problem solving capability in operators.

Key Accountabilities

Owns Process performance data analytics for the plant.
Provides operational performance data for meetings.
Supports the ops team with further analytics for workflows and problem-solving sessions.
Contributes to the process heat map for loss stratification and top loss identification
Continuously drives the development of the performance analytics tools
Contributes to the centre lining settings process. This includes deployment, execution, reporting the KPI for meetings and continuous improvement of the process
Works towards the development of the efficiency of the production process. This includes deployment, execution, reporting the KPI for meetings and continuous improvement of the process
Contributes to the problem-solving process for the Sulphonation process.
Provides subject matter support to the leader team and operators.
Contributes to Project delivery of Safety, Quality or Process improvements when required. Including updating P&IDs, input into HazOp studies and documentation for Management of Change.
Supports building problem solving capability in operators
Collaborate with Sulphonation lead team and operators on projects
Support the development and execution of distinct areas of the 90-day plan and weekly/monthly plans
Supports and leads problem solving sessions

Key Requirements

Must be a current Chemical Engineering undergraduate student, on track for a minimum of a 2:1.
Able to visualize clearly what the ideal production system is
Able to clearly understand operating principles and establish correct operating standards
Able to present findings and rationales clearly so that whole factory team can understand
Able to make logical decisions based on data
Able to prioritise effectively between daily losses (sporadic) and long term losses (Chronic)
Basic understanding of excel to present and visualise data
