Prestige Recruitment Specialists are working with a well-established and highly specialised fused minerals manufacturer based in Hull.

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint a Process Shift Technician to join their production team. This is a hands-on position within a 24/7 manufacturing operation, with responsibility for safely operating, monitoring and supporting a range of process plant and production equipment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping the plant running safely and efficiently, while maintaining production, quality and housekeeping standards.

The Role

Working as part of a shift team, you will operate and monitor process equipment, prepare materials, complete production batches and carry out routine inspections throughout the shift.

You'll work closely with the Production Supervisor and wider team to identify issues, maintain production requirements and ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Operate rotary kilns, coolers and associated finishing plant equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.
Prepare and feed blending equipment with the correct materials to meet production schedules and batch specifications.
Operate, monitor and safely discharge blenders while maintaining product quality and batch integrity.
Monitor plant performance and accurately record operating conditions, process parameters, meter readings and batch information.
Carry out routine inspections of plant and equipment, identifying and reporting defects, abnormalities or operational issues.
Monitor feed systems, silos and associated equipment to ensure a consistent supply of materials to the process.
Inspect screening equipment for damage, wear, blockages or blinding and carry out cleaning or replacement where required.
Prepare and operate blending equipment in line with approved batch cards and production instructions.
Obtain representative product samples for Quality Control testing and safely discharge approved batches into designated packaging or storage areas.
Prepare packaging materials and ensure products are correctly labelled with relevant grade, batch, weight and customer information.
Carry out routine visual inspections, monitoring for leaks, unusual noises, blockages, excessive dust, abnormal temperatures and other signs of equipment malfunction.
Monitor and record the performance of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) and dust collection systems, including the safe handling and disposal of collected fines.
Operate mechanical handling equipment, including counterbalance FLTs, with additional training provided on other plant and equipment where required.
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the production area.
Report safety concerns, equipment faults, quality issues and production deviations promptly to the Production Supervisor.
Work in accordance with all company Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency and housekeeping.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across production and other departments to maintain operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates with experience in process manufacturing, production or a similar industrial environment.

You don't necessarily need to have worked within fused minerals before. We're looking for someone with a practical approach, strong safety awareness and the ability to learn and operate technically varied plant.

Essential Experience

Experience working in a process manufacturing or industrial production environment.
Experience operating and monitoring production machinery or process plant.
Forklift truck experience.
Good understanding of health and safety within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow operating procedures, batch instructions and production specifications.
Good attention to detail, particularly around product quality and process conditions.
Ability to identify and report equipment faults, abnormalities and production issues.
Ability to accurately record process readings and production information.
Willingness and ability to work a 24/7 rotating shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently when required.

Desirable Experience

Rotary kilns or industrial furnaces
Coolers or finishing plant
Conveyors and elevator systems
Silos and bulk material handling
Blenders or mixers
Filling or packaging equipment
Screening equipment
Process control systems
Dust extraction or LEV systems
Batch production
Quality sampling and production checks

Working Pattern

This is a 24/7 operation, so the successful candidate must be comfortable working a rotating shift pattern covering:

Day shifts
Night shifts
Weekends
