Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a renewable energy provider with a commitment to professional development and sustainability to recruit a Process Safety Engineer to cover their anaerobic digestion assets in Scotland.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Head of Compliance you will:

* Be the main spokesperson to encourage and develop a process safety culture
* Continue to develop safety operating practices and procedures to support plant operations
* Use your knowledge to upskill and educate the operations team to identify hazards, to assess risks and to provide commercially astute solutions to any safety issues
* Ensure continued compliance in relation to the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
* Be the conduit between insurers and the client in order to inspect and text new equipment covered by PSSR as per the Written Scheme Examination (WSE) requirements
* Taking the lead in organising, running and chairing process safety assessments for new and upgrade projects across the anaerobic digestion assets
* Be responsible for all safety related reporting and assessments, including HAZOP, DSEAR, LOPA and SIL to name a few
* Approach all activity with a continuous improvement mindset, including the arrangement of DOMINO meetings
* Continue to develop lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) system across the company
* Provide advice to key stakeholders across the business on process safety
* Full job spec available on request

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

* Higher education in something relevant to Process Safety
* Experience within relevant environments and regulations, ie COMAH, DSEAR and PSSR
* A background in a process safety field is hugely advantageous, is in anaerobic digestion or water treatment
* UK driving licence
