Currently an exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and proactive Process Engineering Manager who will be responsible for driving continuous improvements in SFM's manufacturing processes.
This is a forward-looking role that is responsible for actively seeking to implement state of the art manufacturing processes and keep SFM up to date with modern practices in line with its forward-thinking customers. This role achieves this by ensuring the Process Engineering team deliver continuous improvement activities and maintain compliance with HSE, QMS and medical device regulations.
Process Engineering Manager - duties to include:
• Manage, review, and take overall responsibility for all Process Engineering tasks.
• Challenge existing Manufacturing process to deliver Process efficiencies.
• Provide project management for Operations projects.
• Manage Quality Management processes such as CAPA and change control associated with production processes.
• Draft specifications / packaging, feasibility studies, written validations, SOP's.
• Conduct OQ/PQ Trials.
• Ensure Operations are represented throughout the Design Control Process.
• Manage responsibility for design transfer and all process validation activities.
• Provide product Process support for products post design transfer.
• Drive proactive risk management and continuous improvement practices such as FMEA, Kaizen and Lean methodologies.
• Implement process improvements to achieve/exceed company KPI targets.
• Present justifications for investment to deliver process improvements to increase SFM's competitiveness.
• Optimisation of productivity, cost and processing time through the supply chain administration areas
• Monitoring the progress and effectiveness of efficiency improvements
• Carrying out value analysis and value stream mapping.
• Support production Operator process training.
• Implement appropriate statistical tools to maintain and improve production processes.
• Liaise and manage equipment suppliers and contractors.
Process Engineering Manager - Key skills / abilities:
• Engineering degree in industrial/mechanical/electrical or process engineering
• Several years of experience in comparable positions
• Experience of working within a Medical Device GMP Facility / pharmaceutical or automotive product manufacturer.
• A record of successfully delivering process improvements, efficiencies or cost savings projects is essential.
• Experience in managing projects involving large capital expenditure.
• Knowledge of SPC / DOE and other statistical techniques.
• Knowledge of validation principles.
• Expertise in the application of the lean management tools.
• The ability to manage pro-actively and collaboratively, taking ownership of issues and delivering on commitments.
• A clear ability to manage people and situations, embracing change and delivering on new ideas.
• Analytical and solution orientated way of working.
• Sound knowledge of production processes.
• Experience of process scale-up and design transfer and project management.
• Project management & practical experience of in line foil & film pouch packaging machines would be beneficial.
• Experience in textile technology would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of domestic and international Medical Device regulations such as ISO 13485, FDA QSR, Medical Device Directive is beneficial.
• Qualified Chemical background would be advantageous.
