Process Engineer

Water / Wastewater Treatment Projects
East of England | Hybrid Working
Contract | Up to £520 per day

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Process Engineer to support the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects as part of a significant AMP8 investment programme.

Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you'll contribute to the development of process designs across a diverse portfolio of water and water recycling schemes. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects that improve environmental performance, enhance network resilience, and support sustainable growth across the region.

The Role

As a Process Engineer, you will support the production and development of process engineering deliverables, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical excellence, compliance, and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Support the delivery of process engineering design activities across water and wastewater treatment projects.
Develop and review process design documentation, including:
Mass balances
Hydraulic calculations
Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Contribute to multidisciplinary design reviews and technical workshops.
Assist in resolving process-related technical challenges throughout project development.
Ensure designs comply with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, including DSEAR requirements.
Support innovation and digital engineering initiatives across project teams.
Liaise with suppliers, stakeholders and delivery teams to support project objectives.
Promote sustainable engineering solutions and contribute to carbon reduction targets.

About You

To be considered, you should have:

Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Previous experience delivering process engineering designs within the water sector or a comparable process industry.
Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.
Experience producing technical calculations and engineering design deliverables.
Knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental standards.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving.
Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams.
