Description:

We are currently looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Licensing Officer to join a busy Private Housing Services team. The role will focus on processing private rented sector licensing applications, supporting licensing enforcement activity and ensuring properties and licence holders meet the relevant statutory requirements.

The successful candidate will manage licensing applications from initial checks through to issuing licences and notices, liaising with landlords, agents and tenants while supporting the wider enforcement of private sector housing standards.

The Role
·Processing private rented sector property licensing applications.
·Checking applications to ensure all statutory information and qualifying criteria have been met.
·Carrying out Fit and Proper Person checks on licence holders, managers and associated parties.
·Liaising with landlords and agents to obtain additional information required to progress applications.
·Preparing and issuing licences and statutory notices following senior officer approval.
·Providing advice to landlords and tenants on PRS licensing requirements and relevant legislation.
·Handling initial enquiries relating to landlord and tenant issues, including property disrepair.
·Supporting the administration and processing of Civil Penalty Notices.
·Carrying out desktop investigations to identify unlicensed HMOs and other licensable properties.
·Undertaking checks with Land Registry, Companies House, tenancy deposit schemes and other relevant databases.
·Supporting proactive and reactive property licensing inspections and licence renewals.
·Maintaining accurate licensing and enforcement records on internal systems.

Key Requirements
·Previous experience within Private Sector Housing, property licensing or a similar housing regulatory environment.
·Knowledge of private rented sector licensing and relevant housing legislation, including the Housing Act 2004.
·Experience processing property licensing applications and checking statutory documentation.
·Experience providing housing or technical advice to landlords, tenants and other customers.
·Experience maintaining accurate case records and managing housing-related data.
·Ability to review and interpret information relating to properties and licensing applications.
·Good IT skills and experience using database and case management systems.
