PRINT MANAGER
EAST MIDLANDS
SALARY £OPEN DEPENDING ON THE LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE
WORKING HOURS - 8:30am till 5pm - 1 Hour Lunch
Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-quality printed folded cartons, supplying a diverse range of markets. Operating from a modern, highly invested production facility equipped with the latest printing technology, they have built an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and customer service.
They are currently looking to recruit a Print Manager to take responsibility for the overall day to day of the Printing Department including people, production, workflow, quality, press performance and departmental costs. You will lead the team to achieve production targets safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards, while continually looking for opportunities to reduce downtime, waste, complaints and overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Printing Department, including staffing, shift patterns, training, performance and attendance
Ensure production targets, quality standards and delivery requirements are consistently achieved
Monitor and improve departmental KPIs, productivity, downtime, waste and overall operational efficiency
Provide technical support and troubleshoot printing and production issues, including supporting press start-ups, changeovers and difficult/short-run jobs
Manage inks, varnishes, boards and other print consumables, ensuring appropriate stock levels and cost control
Work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Repro and Maintenance to optimise workflow and minimise disruption
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction and cost savings
Ensure presses, equipment and maintenance schedules are managed effectively to maximise availability
Maintain high standards of product quality, housekeeping, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and environmental compliance
Support the management of customer complaints and implement effective corrective actions where required
Ensure the team is appropriately trained, motivated and managed in line with company policies and procedures
Represent the company professionally when dealing with suppliers, customers and other external organisations
Take responsibility for the factory outside normal office hours when required and provide additional support, including occasional weekend workingRequirements:
Significant experience within the print industry, ideally within folded cartons/packaging
Proven experience in a Print Management or Print Supervisory role
Strong sheet-fed offset printing experience and relevant press/machine knowledge
Experience with UV and conventional drying systems
Good understanding of inks, varnishes, reprographic processes and colour management
Knowledge of Quality Assurance, BRC standards and Food Industry requirements
Experience developing and monitoring KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
Relevant printing qualifications or recognised industry apprenticeship
Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to identify & resolve issues quickly
Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding production deadlines
Flexible approach to working hours when required, including occasional weekends
