Principal Geotechnical Engineer - Edinburgh

An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join its Edinburgh team. This is a senior opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to take responsibility for technically challenging projects, lead project teams and play an active role in developing client relationships.
The Role
You will work across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership from feasibility and ground investigation through to design and construction.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading the delivery of geotechnical projects across a range of sectors
Managing and reviewing ground investigation information
Producing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports
Undertaking and reviewing geotechnical calculations and designs
Providing technical input into foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining structures and ground improvement
Working closely with structural, civil and environmental engineers
Managing project budgets, programmes and resources
Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
Liaising directly with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders
Preparing fee proposals and contributing to business development
Supporting the continued growth of the Edinburgh office and wider geotechnical team
About You
The successful candidate will have:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
Significant experience within a UK geotechnical consultancy or engineering environment
Strong technical experience across geotechnical investigation, assessment and design
Experience managing projects and providing technical leadership
Strong understanding of UK geotechnical standards and Eurocodes
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Experience mentoring and developing less experienced engineers
Chartered Engineer status, or be working towards ChartershipA strong commercial awareness and established client relationships would also be advantageous.
